Portable radio, tubes, dry battery powered
This
is what you went to the beach with, besides girlfriend, dog and picnic
basket. Dog is not-done anymore.
Measurements: 29 x 20,5 x 11 cm The radio still works, when connected to a power supply as batteries are no longer available. When opening the cover, a distinctive formaldehyde smell is presented. This particular, addictive smell is why people as myself collect old radio's. In order to preserve the smell also, I keep the radio in an airtight plastic bag (!) |

Imprinted label on top. Ever seen blue crocodiles? Very rare! That's why these old radio's are so very valuable. | |
In
the lid an aerial was fitted, you can see the cable, coming out of the
battery compartment.
In the upper left corner of the radio frame, the on/off switch is located (left, next to the rivet). Closing the lid turns off the radio. Three knobs:

these named scales. On top: long wave stations. Because this radio was
made for the British home-market, the long and medium wave scales
mainly mention home stations: (BBC-) Light Program, Midlands, Welsh,
(BBC-) Third Program, a.s.o.

Three tubes are visible, but there are four. These tubes need a 1,5 Volt filament battery and a 90 Volt Anode battery. | |
